Rae Sremmurd were performing at the Governor’s Ball Music Festival at Randall’s Island Park, New York on Friday, June 5, when one of the members sustained a serious injury.
Billboard reports that Slim Jimmy slipped off of a speaker in front of the stage. His thigh was cut open by some glass during the fall.
He was rushed behind the stage where he grabbed the mic and told the audience: “I got a big a$$ piece of glass in my leg, so if you got that video, put that sh*t on Instagram.”
“This sh*t is pretty crazy. … This n*gga’s leg is like, split open, I’m serious,” said his brother and fellow group member Swae Lee.
Slim encouraged Swae to finish the show without him, which he did.
The injured rapper later posted a photo of the gruesome injury on Rae Sremmurd’s Instagram page.
“@jxmmis just underwent successful surgery to close his wound after slipping off the speaker at the Governors Ball and falling into a glass spotlight front stage. He didn’t break anything and will be fully recovered asap. Jxmmi only had one comment to the fans, #SremmLife,” read the caption.
The group is best known for their hit records “No Flex Zone” and “No Type.”
Get well soon Slim!
